Soul is everything
Hey dear young friends in Christ,
Imagine that someone offers you everything you ever wanted—unlimited money, fame, popularity, followers, success, and power. Sounds amazing, right? But Jesus asks a startling question: What if you gain all of that and lose your soul in the process?
“And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?”
— Mark 8:36-37
Your soul is the deepest part of who you are. It is the part that thinks, loves, believes, hopes, and connects with God. Your body will grow older, your possessions will wear out, and even your achievements may be forgotten one day. But your soul is eternal.
Many young people are taught to chase grades, popularity, appearance, and success. While these things are not wrong, they become dangerous when they become more important than God and the condition of our soul. A person can have thousands of followers online and still feel empty inside. They can win every competition and still lose their peace, integrity, and relationship with God.
Jesus reminds us that nothing in this world is valuable enough to trade for our soul. Not a relationship that pulls us away from God. Not a habit that destroys our character. Not a moment of pleasure that leaves lasting regret.
The greatest investment you can make is not in your social media profile, your bank account, or even your career. It is in your relationship with Christ. When your soul is anchored in Him, success becomes a blessing rather than a trap, and challenges become opportunities for growth.
So today, ask yourself:
Am I taking care of my soul as much as I take care of my appearance?
Am I spending time with God as much as I spend time online?
Are my choices helping my soul grow closer to Jesus?
Remember, your soul is worth more than the whole world. Never sell something eternal for something temporary.
Lord Jesus, help me to value my soul above the temporary attractions of this world. Give me wisdom to choose what is right, courage to follow You, and a heart that treasures eternal things. Keep my soul close to You every day. Amen.
Jesus loves you!
