Wednesday with Jesus
Dear Bretheren in Christ,
“Don’t point your finger at someone else and try to pass the blame! My complaint, you priests, is with you.” — Hosea 4:4
Many people are quick to notice the failures of others while quietly excusing their own. In Hosea’s time, the priests blamed the people for the nation’s spiritual downfall, but God revealed a deeper truth: the leaders themselves had failed to guide the people in righteousness. Instead of teaching holiness, they had become careless and spiritually compromised.
Jesus reminds us today that blaming others can become a dangerous shield that hides our own need for repentance. It is easier to point a finger than to bow the head in humility. Yet true spiritual growth begins when we honestly examine our own hearts before correcting someone else.
In families, churches, and society, many wounds continue because people defend themselves instead of seeking transformation. The Lord desires sincere hearts that are willing to say, “Search me, O God.” When we stop shifting blame and start accepting responsibility, grace begins to heal us from within.
Today, let us pray not for sharper eyes to see others’ faults, but for softer.
Prayerful regards,
