Shallow friendships

Hey dear young friends in Christ,

“There are ‘friends’ who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother.” — Proverbs 18:24

Today, you are more connected than ever—hundreds of contacts, followers, and chats. Yet, many still feel deeply lonely. Why? Because not all “friends” are truly friends.

Some friendships are shallow. They exist only for fun, popularity, or convenience. These “friends” may disappear when life gets hard—or worse, lead you into wrong choices, harmful habits, or broken character. The Bible clearly warns that such friendships can quietly destroy you.
But a real friend is different. A true friend stands by you in your struggles, corrects you when you go wrong, listens when you feel low, and supports you without expecting anything in return. One such friend is far more valuable than a crowd of casual connections.

Here’s the challenge: Don’t just look for that kind of friend—be that kind of friend.
There are people around you who feel left out, unnoticed, or misunderstood. A kind word, a listening ear, or a simple act of care from you can change someone’s day—or even their life. When you become a true friend, you reflect the heart of Jesus, who stays close to us in every situation.

Step out. Care. Listen. Stand by them.
Being a real friend is one of the greatest ways to live out your faith.

Jesus loves you!
