From the Heart
Wednesday with Jesus
Dear Bretheren Christ,
Jesus teaches a simple but searching truth: our words reveal our hearts:
"A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart... What you say flows from what is in your heart." — Luke 6:45
Speech is not merely a habit; it is the overflow of what we treasure within. A heart filled with God's love produces kindness, truth, and encouragement. A heart filled with anger, pride, or bitterness will eventually reveal itself through hurtful words and ungodly actions.
People may impress others for a while with outward appearances, but when life brings pressure, disappointment, or conflict, the real condition of the heart becomes visible. Our mouths simply uncover what our hearts have been storing.
That is why Jesus is more concerned with changing our hearts than merely correcting our behavior. He wants to cleanse us from the inside out. As we spend time in His presence, meditate on His Word, and yield to the Holy Spirit, He fills our hearts with His peace, love, and compassion. Then our words become a blessing to others and bring glory to God.
Today, before speaking, let us first examine our hearts. When Christ rules in our hearts, our speech will naturally reveal His love, grace, and character.
'O Lord, Create in me a clean heart,
'O God, and renew a steadfast spirit
within me.' Psalm 51:10
In Your Holy Name, Amen.
